This is my 2nd Dyson
I had an old old Dyson DC35 for years and I put up with its constant intermitting power problems in the extension tube to the power head. So I finally bought a refurbished V8. It's almost perfect except for the power button. It's hard to keep depressed while using the vacuum. On the old DC35 I made a plastic part that was simply attached to a large pipe xlamp that was around the main motor assembly. This was very easy to use and didn't get in the way while using the vacuum. However at 1st I mod'd that so I could us it on the V8 and it worked well but didn't look to nice. But it was very functional. So I bought an after sale 3rd party power button depresser that looks fine but really gets in the way while holding the vacuum. Really gets in the way.
I wish Dyson would just make a photocell switch or a capacitance switch or some other method of powering on these Dysons. I know these alternatives I mentioned will drain the battery while not in use but if u store the vacuum in the charging unit that problem disappears. I attached my simple yet effective power button collar that I will probably go back to simply because it doesn't get in the way (not too much) while using the vacuum. And if u don't want to us it it rotates around the motor out of ur way. Dyson, take this design and incorporate it into the body of ur vacuums. If u need me to show u how I can help u.
Other then the power button the machine is lightweight, quiet and efficient but still not worth the price. That's why I buy refurbed which is still way to pricey but… I use the machine everyday so I figured I'd splurge after 8 years using the DC35
Please Dyson take my design seriously
