    BT Powerline Wi-Fi Plug-in Adapter 600

I have had problems in th epast with BT Wi-Fi adapters, flakey connection and dropping out al the time, needing to be reset but this one worked straight out of the box and was simple to set up to output the same Wi-Fi i,d, as my BT Router. Seems to be holding up well, I haven't touched it since I installed them a couple of weeks ago. Recommended.

Good enough for what I need but, not perfect!

I purchased this product to extend my internet connection to a workshop I've built on the back of my house. I need to connect a PC and the connection is fine using an ethernet cable from the unit to the PC. Numerous attempts to connect any other device, phone, tablet etc via WiFi have been unsuccessful. The kit gives me what I was looking for in terms of being able to run my PC. I don't really need a WiFi connection there but it's disappointing that it doesn't quite do what it says. I'm keeping it to use as is and will try to figure out why the WiFi doesn't want to connect. My devices can ''see'' the WiFi hotspot but wont connect.

  • BT Mini Wi-Fi Home Hotspot Broadband 600 Kit Powerline Adapter Pack of 2

I have dead spots throughout my my home. Much to my surprise this cured all of them. My broadband Provider has been unable to cure the problem for 6 months. I imagined this kit would be ineffectual. However, I was proved wrong. I can highly recommend it. In particular, refurbished it is cheaper than second hand -and has the advantage of 12 months warranty.

  • An easy solution

I wasn't sure that this product was the one I needed and tried this before full commitment to a very expensive mesh system. I now get 16 to 20 mbps when I was getting 2 to 5 mbps. So I am happy for the increase usable speed. However I was slightly disappointed that I have lost 35 mbps that available close to the router which pushes out 55mbps hifi. I haven't tried ethernet connection and obviously the speed would be quicker.

  • Did the job

I am very happy with this product - it is so easy to set up, and it sorted out my wifi connectivity issue. It also has the capability for hard wiring two devices at the receiver end, in addition to the wifi. It was also cheaper than other devices I researched. Supplied with one cable for the transmitter end. Very pleased and no negatives.

  • Unreliable at best

Well packaged and looks the part - that's the good bit! I had a TP-Link ethernet extender setup which worked great but I wanted a wifi and ethernet connection to my bedroom. After spending a couple of hours trying to get the BT units working I was able to get either wifi or ethernet but not both. I changed the setup to be a wifi repeater for my own router SSID rather than a wifi access point (its own SSID) which seemed to work slightly better. But all rather flakey. If switched off then reconnecting was intermittent or if left on to go into standby then waking it up was hit and miss. Overall a waste of money - I'm back with my TP-Link setup.

  • Hmmmm not so good.

In short, I cannot recommend this product if you have higher broadband speeds (e.g. 50Mbps and above) as it acts as a bottleneck. The most I can get out of the hotspot is 15-25Mbps if I am standing right next to it. Have reset and played with it for ages to no avail. The ethernet connections on the hotspot achieve 80-110Mbps, which is similar to what I get plugging straight into the router downstairs. Despite claims that it supports 150Mps wifi connections, the most I can get out of it is 72Mbps. Any wifi analyser app will show this. If, on the other hand - you live in a house with many thick walls and are happy with speeds of 15-25Mps in areas where your main router signal is very weak or non-existent then this system will work fine.

  • Extending Wifi Network

I bought two more mini wifi hotspots to extend the coverage of my existing Hotspot 600 set and complete the elimination of two less reliable predecessors. Adding the two was an easy procedure, giving three hotspots all sharing the wifi login id and password of the router. Working reliably.

  • Simple and cheap way to improve wi-fi coverage.

This is quite simple to set up and provides an easy and cheap way of improving wi-fi coverage in your home. I find that it works perfectly well on a different ring circuit from my computer, at leasst with the pasrticular consumer unit fitted in my electrical system. You can either retain the name and password of the hub, so that your equipment always logs on to the mini-hub or you can clone your main wi-fi hub, so that, for example, your phone logs on to whichever unit - hub or mini-hub is providing the better signal in that particular room.
