Learn to play chess with Anatoly Karpov. Suitable for beginners, experienced and advanced players. The box does show signs of wear but the set is complete and the board works and runs off 4 AA batteries (not included).
Elo under 1000 - when you can beat it easily it's time to move on.
At 15 second per move the program is weak, under 1000 Elo, similar in strength to the Novag Solo. However, if you're starting out it will still give an entertaining game. When you can beat it easily it's time to move to a stronger opponent. One problem is that if you want to play Black and use the correct notation for the squares, the computer just beeps when it's ready to move and the LCD is on the opposite side of the board. Also, the voice is not Karpov's and the accompanying book is not by him but contains positions from h is games.
I have had one chess computer by this manufacturer for years and found it to be top class. This item is a small battery-powered version, handy for moving to any room. I have not had it for long but so far its performance is top-class.
