Works OK but not as good as the hype
It's good when you finally get one that works, not so good when it leaks like a waterfall all over your floors. As an upright it cleans carpets well if used regularly for a spruce up. It's not got a deep clean mode and my other pet pro carpet washer from a very well know brand beginning with B does a better job at intense cleaning, but for an everyday quick clean the wax does a good job. The nozzle attachments are ok but not as good as my other machine which is heated (the vax uses cold water and takes longer to dry). It feel and looks plasticky and cheap compared to others on the market, but it works and it's quieter than others I've used. Not sure how it has been getting so much positive feedback and how it's been winning best carpet washer awards, but it's ok.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The item is brilliant and the quality is also, when I use it to clean the carpet it leaves the room smelling nice and fresh and it makes the carpet look brand new after washing, the Vax gives the carpet a really deep down clean I also love the way the carpet is almost dry after using the dry only function on the Vax cleaner, "it's brilliant", there is nothing not to dislike about this machine it's great value and worth every penny.Verified purchase: Yes

Good but not perfect
I bought this to replace an older Vax carpet cleaner. The Smartwash has seperate tanks for fresh and used water and another for concentrated detergent. In use, it performed well, the twin brushes being much more effective than the older machine, which has one tank and a single brush. A lot of dirt was removed from the carpet when compared to this older version from the same manufacturer. However, it isn't perfect. The carpet is 20 years old and has absorbed a lot of dust over that time. The Vax Smartwash couldn't remove all of it, but has cleaned around 50% away. The dirty water tank got very dirty in this process! The machine is easy to dismantle and clean after use. I would think that only a professional machine would do better, but the Vax is no more expensive than having a contractor clean your carpets once.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Cleans carpets easily and us light and easy to use.
Well it does what it said very well. I find it easier to use than the rental ones and find it much easier to clean. Love the forward wash backwards dry and dry only functions. So does a good clean AND gets most of the moisture up. It’s much lighter and you can see the dirt coming up. Seems to also brush the carpet well and the fluff etc is easy to pick up It’s downside seems to be it does need cleaning a lot although it’s very easy to clean out. You don't know until you try this how much you needed it.
My old vax carpet washer of 20 years was losing suction and would not clean my car seats anymore. so I gave it away and bought this one. pleasantly surprised how easy to use . it easy quite heavy with water in the tanks but you can see how disgusting your carpets are when you look at the waste tank. very pleased. carpets fresh and clean. essential kit if you have a dog and carpets lol. plus spin clean tool is excellent for stairs and carseats and carpets. Easy peasy
Yep easy peasy and for once does as it says on the tin. Easy to assemble & use. Push fwd to wash- pull back to dry. Particulary like the fact you can rinse by simply taking the solution bottle off- so you can get the sticky/ attract more dirt: remnants of any detergent out the carpet. Fabulous Vax Smart Cleaner
This is a perfect floor cleaner, used it initially on a heavy used hallway, fabulous results. I've since worked my way through the house and each room is transformed to looking wonderful. Also cleaned my sofa, amazing transformation as can be seen in photo partially cleaned leaving one side unclean. Amazing results. The smart washer is extremely easy to use, easy to clean and stores away in understairs cupboard.

Only used once and great
As I have only used it the once, I gave it 4* as I can’t say how long lasting it will be. That aside it was very easy to use only needing to to click the handle into a slot and ready to go. Also the bag to store the tools and hang on machine is handy for storage. I have hired the most widely use carpet machine in the past and there is hardly any difference if any. True enough the carpets were dry in around a hour after use. The only tricky bit was that the cleaning fluid bottle says add 40ml to tank, but the enclosed instructions says add fluid and top-up with water ?
