My old air gun gets beaten by a true heavyweight!
Have bought a couple of these in the past and was totally underwhelmed with them, especially the bosch unit I bought which would struggle taking skin off a rice pudding. On a recent visit to a local tyre dealer, they were using these constantly with a stream of batteries and chargers and they said that there's nothing better for wheel nuts than these. They also use them on stubborn axle fixings and shock mounts, basically anything that is a real struggle to get apart. Why did I wait so long?
I have been working on cars for most of my adult life partly as a hobby and partly because I'm tight. I have a dewalt drill and seen the batteries fits in these, reasonable cost. Took the plunge as I had some ball joints and hub nuts that needed doing, what can i say. Amazing. Even with the wee 2.0 batteries this is a champ. De Walt 'rattle gun'
I own two Ducati motorcycles and both have single sided swinging arms ... thus in both cases a single big nut holds the rear wheel in place. Now this nut is torqued up to 235Nm and is virtually impossible to remove with a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Hence the need for a high-start torque 'rattle gun' and with this DeWalt gun it literally laughs at the challenge ...
