Great Car Seat
We had this car seat in a different color for our daughter last year. She was born at 5 lbs 4 oz and the seat fit her well (as well as a seat can fit a preemie, I guess).
Initially I watched carefully to ensure her head did not rest on her chest, and it did, so I sat beside her, checking her, and worried like any new mother. In the end, the seat was very safe.
It was easy to snap in and out of the car seat base and into her Graco Modes Stroller, and not overly heavy (until she got heavy). I pretty much carried her everywhere so that wasn't an issue but may be for some people.
As she got older we added a different positioner for her comfort and some toys and links and a mirror and it kept her entertained for brief car rides (she's still not a fan of long car rides). The additions definitely helped as she got older.
She is now one year old and we have replaced the seat with the Graco Extend2Fit, which I love even more, in order to pass her infant seat down to her baby sister. (Side note: We are having twins and would hands down purchase the Extend2Fit for the new babies as well, as it seats 4 lb babies and up, but has been said not to be the safest "position" for preemies and small babies, which we will have, so we went with the Snugride 35 again).
In addition to the Snugride 35 we already had, we purchased the Gotham color of this seat for our son (again, we are having twins) and the DuoGlider double stroller to use with them.
The three seats fit easily in the back of our F150 Supercab, if anyone is wondering about the fit 3 across, and the Extend2Fit is wider than the Snugride 35s, so 3 of the 35s would fit even easier across in our vehicle model.
Other factors.. I have seen a few people complain about the color of Gotham looking different in photos, and expecting navy not black. The color must vary based on computer settings because it looked black to us, but just in case you're expecting blue, the seat is definitely black with a little gray and white trim. If you want Navy, keep looking! Gotham looks nice, but then color isn't all that important to me with these things, and I made my decision based on color and price. I do think the black will be easier to clean.
After a year's use, I recommend these seats. They fit very tiny babies and are safe. The straps are very easy to adjust (but a little intimidating the first time you move them... I admit I messed up a few times and made it a lot harder than it actually is). The base is easy and fast to install and straps easily into our latch system (but would also work easily with a seat belt). They are easy to take in and out of the car and to use with Click Connect strollers.
I preferred carrying my daughter and ditching the stroller but with 3 under 1.5, we had to have something easy and the Click Connects are definitely easy.
They feel pretty hard and not cushy (unlike the Extend2Fit, which is VERY padded and comfortable) but, again, the position is more important for tiny babies, which we have.
