MC5 PRO supports two working modes to satisfy different requirements: 1. Active mode: need to connect independent USB power, built-in audio amp chip will work, amplify the mixed audio signal and output larger power, can connect headphones to monitor music directly via the 3.5mm headphone jack. 2. Passive mode: no power required, MC5 PRO will work in the state of pure resistance attenuation, output audio signal will be a little attenuated. And the headphone jack output will not support headphone monitoring directly but need to add a headphone.
Bought to connect up two computers, a phone and a tablet to headphones.
First, a warning that you won't be able to use 4-pole (TRRS) 3.5mm phones with this; strictly 3-pole (TRS) only.
The sound seems to be very transparent (not affected by going through the mixer) and there's plenty of volume control in the active mode (powered) although the passive mode is essentially unusable.
Also conveys proper stereo from the sources with no bleed on each channel or between the channels.
Noise is negligable except for the odd RF or mobile phone spike (not the fault of the mixer).
It's a well constructed little unit with nice smooth volume pots, a power light and an included USB A to C power cable.
Rubber feet are also provided.
All in all, well worth the purchase price!
One of the few stereo audio mixers on the market that I could find, and at a decent price it does what it says in the advert. I use it for mixing a keyboard output and a tablet output to headphones.
Great little mixer! Let’s me practise guitar through headphones whilst playing a backing track from my phone - I used to have the track in ear buds and the guitar in over-ear phones! Great design, looks great and works great!
