WOW. "Okay, so I'm pretty new to this whole 'audiophile' thing. I've always loved music, but I've been listening on... well, let's just say 'basic' setups. I decided to take the plunge and upgrade, and after a LOT of reading (and asking people on forums who seemed to know what they were talking about!), I landed on the Cambridge Audio CXA81 MkII. Honestly? I was a bit nervous spending this much on an amp. But from the moment I plugged it in, I knew it was worth every penny. First off, it looks amazing. Sleek, solid, and just feels like quality. Then I started playing some music. And... wow. I'm hearing things in my favorite songs that I've never heard before! Like, little details in the instruments, the way the singer's voice trails off... it's like the music has come alive. I mostly listen to classic rock, some blues, and a bit of acoustic stuff. And this amp handles it all beautifully. The guitars sound crunchy and powerful, the vocals are clear and smooth, and the acoustic stuff... it's like the musicians are right there in the room with me. The bass is deep and punchy, but it's not overpowering. It's just... right. And the highs are crisp and clear, without being harsh. I was worried about setting it up, but it was super easy. Everything is clearly labelled, and the remote is simple to use. I even connected my phone via Bluetooth, and it sounded great! Basically, this amp has completely transformed my listening experience. I'm spending way more time listening to music now, and I'm enjoying it more than ever. If you're looking to upgrade your sound, and you're not sure where to start, I can't recommend the Cambridge Audio CXA81 MkII enough. Seriously, just buy it. You won't regret it! 5 out of 5 stars. Great sounding amp
The CXA81 is a great sounding amplifier with really good connectivity. For the price I can’t think of a better sounding amplifier with a DAC, and I have heard quite a few! I have the amp hooked up to a Rega Apollo CD player and a pair of KEF LS50 metas with an REL subwoofer and the sound is solid and detailed, with good sound staging and real texture.
