don't be fooled by cheaper versions

great little product ,used it several times now to charge my phone overnight whilst camping ,and use the three very bright lights supplied ,solar panel also very useful , don't be fooled by the cheaper less powerful version , i really would love to see a bigger version as well , the price i believe has gone down since my purchase , its light weight, small and easy to carry . yes i would recommend this product ,wholeheartedly. for what it is its ,it's extremely useful with the USB port i can power my Beldray air cooler. the built in light is bright and does dim , although i would like the green ambient light to be able to turned off at night . but over all a good product

  • Most critical review

    Quite disappointing

The unit is well made and I've no doubts it'll last, the charge it can hold is quite good. The main issue is the solar panel and the implementation, the solar panel is rated for 5v and can only achieve this in clear sun, if there is cloud cover the voltage drops, this means that unless it's a clear, sunny day you won't receive any charge at all as the unit doesn't even trickle charge unless sunny. If you are away camping and rely on this unit you'll likely find you can't sustain any devices, I used it in Cornwall and even with moderately sunny days wasn't able to keep a device charged. If you're using this device where sunny days are common, you'll probably be fine, otherwise do be aware of the limitations.

  • good for what it is designed for

putting aside the green colour for a bit.. LOL If you remember what this has been designed for you won't be disappointed. I have charged a 3500 Mah battery in my phone from 10% to full around 7 times on one charge. The device didn't completely discharge at that. .I tried to charge via sunlight and I reckon I can get 1 phone charge put back into the device with half a days full sun (5-6 hours). part cloudy where it doesn't charge at all to full power in direct sunlight (Ps) this was placing the solar panel on a shelf behind a window.. Obviously in outdoors it will be better. I checked the voltage off the panel.. in bright but cloudy conditions you get around 3.6v off the panel. you need 4v minimum to start any charging of the device. in brightest sun you can get 4.65v off the panel. The LED lamps are very bright.. good enough for a small room to function in.. you can get 3 days running time off a single lamp, 2 days with 2 lamps etc. You can charge the device off the mains via a phone charger or similar. using the specific connector supplied I may take off the cover and spray it a different colour but it is not the end of the world to leave it green LOL Might buy another one.. PS there are two types of this device and they look the same.. the one with the BLUE button at the front is the better bang for buck option with LifePo4 batteries. The one with the Orange button is a low power lead acid battery.. Lead acid batteries won't last any where near as long as the other type. Don't save £10 and lose the power reserve or operating life .

  • Great piece of kit. All you need for camping

I was sceptical about this but it's great. Fully charged from the solar panel while on my van dashboard. The mini lamps have enough cable and give off great illumination. I'm using these in my campervan. It is light enough and small enough to carry in a backpack except the solar panel is rigid. I have not used the USB yet to charge the mobile but I can't see it being a problem. I am using this instead of a leisure battery and it does the job for lighting.

  • Very impressed!

Really impressed with the product. Been having problems with lighting issues in my vintage folding caravan for far to long. And been putting off buying a solar generator for along time. I took the jump and have been over the moon with it. 2 lights is more than enough for me and can charge my phone through the night. Took only 2 hours to charge half the battery back up to full to keep me going for rest of the weekend. Time will tell how long it will last but so good so far!

  • Excellent Power Station

For the price this is a great power station. Built in light is very bright and the 3 plug in lights with on/off switches can easily turn night into day. It's very lightweight and portable. Only things that would make this even better would be a second usb port and a kick stand for the solar panel.

  • Excellent little charging monster

Received the product as was described. It charged quickly - about slightly over 3 hours. I then took my phone whose battery I deliberately left to be flat. I charged this phone on the Portable power station. In less than an hour the phone was fully charged

  • Compact and handy

The lamps are all bright and work non stop 16 hours with 2 telephones being charged. Light is white. Solar panel works in any day light producing energy. Little hooks allow to get it anywhere you can fit them. Use it in the garden as it is getting dark early, in a caravan and at my studio.

  • A worthy investment

All in one, self contained light and power system. Sits on my window sill, charging during day, lights up my flat at night :-) Saves me pennies, but pennies add up :-) Downside is that it seems to need direct sun to charge, but the 5 hrs that I get charge it for over 5hr use every night Plus side, no more worries about the flats power going off again

  • Totally useless.

I have bought 2 of these units, the first one appears to work fine until the charge runs out, then it is dead and stays dead despite multiple chances to charge its dead, l foolishly bought another one because it seemed to be perfect solution and thinking l was unlucky in buying a dud. Low and behold that is now dead, l am of the opinion these things are charged at the factory destined to die once the batteries die out.
