Used is better value. Especially if seller's reason was just wanting latest equipment. This version of these mesh routers is plenty adequate for the average user; even streaming 2 TVs.Covers square area well If you get 3. probably 2 will cover long single story. Only negative is difficult/unable to connect to 2.4 band with 5G phone to set up 2.4ghz item. The manual says there is an IOT (Internet of Things) band but I couldn't find it It might come with next firmware upgrade. That being said, I did successfully connect Echodots, wifi plugs and switches, MyQ garage door openers, Ecobee thermostats, and (somehow) a Rainbird lawn sprinkler controller. Not a great choice for us. My printer is wi-fi but it no longer accepts printing jobs from my laptop. Also cannot get our TV to recognize the new system...TV isn't all that old. Best yet
The next step in the wireless mesh evolution. Great product, setup, app, etc. my only beef is that it displays only one ssid containing both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Your client picks what it wants. Bought "open box", NO REGRETS !
The router setup is fast and secure. It "meshes with its satellite flawlessly. The suggestion to link the satellites together before you separate them should be followed. I bought these "open boxes" and my experience with the units taught me, that you MUST RESET the router before you attempt to set this unit up! A complete WiFi solution, app needs improvement
It covers a wide area with decent WiFi signal even between floors. My house is a three levels single family, it actually can be covered with two units, the 3-pack is kind of overkill. Signal is very stable and fast. Unfortunately, the Orbi app is not quite stable. It is a fancy upgrade from previous Netgear router software but somehow it suddenly lost authentication of my login. No, I didn't change password , uninstall and reinstall solves the problem. Just get it!
