Super lens for my EOS Rebel T6i
I switched from film to digital about 15 years ago and have used "point-and-shoot" cameras until obtaining the Canon EOS Rebel T6i. I enjoyed the "zoom" abilities of the point-and-shoot Canon SX50 HS but decided to upgrade knowing I would obtain the Sigma lens for the new camera.
The kit lens that came with my new Canon EOS Rebel T6i are good lenses but...I did not like to carry 2 lenses or change lens when wanted more telephoto capability. Also wanted more "zoom" than the kit telephoto lens had. The Sigma images are a little sharper than the kit lenses are but was not a critical issue for the upgrade from the Canon lens to the Sigma 18 to 300 mm lens. The zoom action is smooth, no rough/tight spots when zooming out or in. Have not needed to use the "lock" switch on the lens, does not "zoom out" when carrying the camera with the lens pointing down.
This lens is sharp enough so that I can photograph birds at 300mm, then crop the image and have a "closeup" of the bird that's equal in size to a 50X image from the old camera but has sharper details. That is the capability I expected from this camera/lens combination and am extremely pleased.
For months I checked every online review that I could find for this type of lens, chose Sigma, am very pleased with all aspects of its performance. Very happy with the lens, have NO cons to report!
