Best BR player with 7.1 analogue outputs on the market.
We have several players here and this one is just simply the best. The error correction is top-notch and having proper 7.1 analogue outputs means that it can be used with conventional amp and speakers and of course is ideal for use with a proper sound system using active speakers. We have this hooked up to a 24:10 Soundcraft mixer that feeds seven Genelec speakers set into the walls and two Genelec subs. The image goes to an Optima projector and a 2.5m screen and is part of a professional post production studio. There is of course nothing to stop anyone from using the 8 audio outputs on the UB820 to feed a receiver, set of amps or active speakers directly. Once again, we have found Panasonic to be the brand that makes the best and most reliable products. My Panasonic EZ1 1st-generation digital camcorder from the 90s is still working, though sadly a 4:3 SD image is today totally useless, despite the superior quality to similar images from other brands. The UB820 replaced a Sony BDP-S300 that just did not have enough memory to cope with many Blu-Ray disks.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

VERY Poor in Apps
Plays 4K, Blu-Rays and DVDs with no problems producing a great picture. I had to return my player as it is suffering from a firmware problem with the apps. Unable to downscale streamed content to the projector input. Tries to send a 4K signal from YouTube Netflix when the player was set to output 1080p resulting in a HDCP 2.2 error. Fantastic Piece of kit... I had my doubts at first as connecting it to my old 5.1 amp throught optical, the picture was quite out of sync... but after some faffing with the sound delay feature 70ms sound delay and it looks spot on in sync now.. I only have 1 4k title so far (Dune)... the resolution is just stunning!... Blue rays upscaled also lok fantastic. Good points:- Great picture quality. Good video info feature. Bad:- Limited disc support. No DVD-RAM, SACD. Only a basic short manual provided. You do need the full manual, and going to a PC to read it is a pain. Buttons on top surface is bad design. This player looks, nice and sleek. Picture and sound quality are amazing. This is a tweakers heaven . Theres settings and features for everything. It handles, 4k hdr Dolby vision and even get those in the Netflix and prime video apps and atmos to boot. Love this player!

Although the build quality isn’t great it makes up for this with simply breathtaking picture & sound quality with plenty of useful features such as Netflix which I’ve only just started using as they have a good choice of Dolby Vision unlike Sky currently. Incredible value for money .
