Old….but built to last
Right, what can I say ?
This comes from an age when we still built stuff to last and when I die it’ll be well over 50 years old ! What’s more who ever buys it then will still get a bit of kit that’ll work perfectly and do the job superbly and that’s what matters. It’s not as posh as an Axminster with its turntable head so it’ll never be as easy to turn really big bowls but it’s solid, no plastic or pressed steel, no cheap zinc castings, this is steel and cast iron! Yes it weighs a ton and that’s good, you want a lathe with body, just because it’s old and doesn’t have multiple speeds at the touch of a button, doesn’t mean it out dated, it means it’s reliable, robust and will get the job done for the next 50 to 100 years if looked after !
