  • first decent pencil we have found in a long time

We have been trying to find a replacement tailor's pencil for years, and the only one that we have that we like is now so short that it is almost gone. We have tried all sorts of apparently similar products, but they have never worked as well. All we wanted was a thin line, in a chalk that would transfer onto the fabric easily and brush off when we were ready. We tried traditional tailor's chalk (ok but a bit crumbly, difficult to maintain a thin line and very hard to accurately mark a point as it is so large and blunt); various pencils (all seemed to have leads that were too hard, so that you had to press really hard to make any mark on the fabric, which in turn would move and wrinkle what you were trying to mark); and chalk wheels (these never worked as well as they should have done, because they left a thin dusting of chalk in an approximate line, which had vanished by the time you so much as breathed on the fabric). This pencil overcomes all those problems. The chalk is soft enough to leave a clear line without having to press on the fabric, and solid enough to stay there until you have finished with it. It is narrow enough to be able to draw a clear line or mark a small point. It is easy to hold and use, and the different coloured chalks mean that you can use it on pretty much any fabric. Finally, we may be able to stop looking and get back to sewing again!

  • Ideal for all crafts requiring tailors chalk

This pencil is ideal for crafting. Its easy to hold and the chalk is easy to change so you can use different colours. It resembles a propelling pencil and works in exactly the same way, it just uses chalk instead of lead. Brilliant idea and would thoroughly recommend it.

  • Highly recommended

This is the best mechanical tailor's chalk pens ever. It is dense in colour you only need soft pressure for it to mark fabrics. Absolutely love it and will buy more from wholesalers for my business

  • Fine chalk lines making cutting accurate

Great for marking up of fabric. Nice fine line which means that when cutting out you can be really accurate with sizing.

  • Koh-i-Noor Tailors Chalk Clutch Pencil

5 stars. Good value for money. More accurate than (and also no crumbling as with) the traditional, triangular tailors chalk. Several different colours of leads included for different coloured fabrics. Cleans off the fabric easily. Speedy delivery. The one downside is you have to use a fair amount of pressure to open the ‘clutch’ to release/replace the chalk leads, more so than with the artists version of this pencil (which I also have). Other than that I can’t fault it.

  • Brilliant highly recommend!

I have several tailors chalks but this is now my favourite for transferring markings on to fabric or marking for hems. Hi quality and chalk marks that last, yet rub off easily. Plus the wide range of colours makes it great if working on simultaneous projects of different colours.

  • Creative with chalk

I’m using this to draw out quilting designs. It’s clean and easy to use and just like drawing with a pencil, and the choice of colours is great. Bizarrely, our new kitten also likes it! So we share.

  • Great product for dressmakers!

This is a neat little product which I use for dressmaking. It marks the fabric much better than the coloured pencil markers that are available. If it has any fault, it is that it should have a top or cover for the point to prevent breakage, but this is a minor issue and if stored carefully, there shouldn't be any problem. Luckily I managed to find a top from a boardmarker that fitted perfectly.

  • Amazing chalk pencil

An amazing product. Lovely to hold & the chalk flows perfectly. Great idea being able to change the colour of the chalk. I use on fabric & can now draw on light or dark fabric. Highly recommend

  • Didn't know...

Didn't know such a thing existed and just searched blind. Very pleased that there is indeed such a thing and it's just what I wanted. I often want to rule a chalk line and this is so much better than anything I've ever had.
