Excellent alternative to a very expensive new Porsche prop Shaft!
After looking on several owners forums it soon became apparent that the OEM prop bearing rubber housings fail as these cars get older. I wouldn’t recommend doing this job unless you are mechanically minded and you access to a ramp and a good selection of tools ie a vice, bearing pullers, grinder, spanner’s, sockets etc. Before you start google “Merle Cardenas bearing replacement on a Porsche Cayenne” this is well worth watching beforehand. Before removing anything mark the prop locations to ensure on all flanges and splines so that it doesn’t need rebalancing! The old bearing and housing may need to be cut off with a grinder, care should be taken not to mark the shaft and safety equipment should be worn. The woke job can be done in two hours with the right kit and the quality of the Meyle replacement parts is excellent. As I was replacing the centre bearing and housing I decided to replace the rubber donut on the end of the gearbox at the same time, this was also a Meyle replacement and very easy to change while the prop was removed. All in all I can honestly say it’s an easy enough job with basic but comprehensive instructions supplied with parts. Excellent quality products which saved me a fortune over a replacement propshaft.
Very poor quality, I have fitted 3 of these in the last year and all have whined when accelerating, nearly replaced a gearbox over these bearings.
I am a senior technician and have replaced maybe a hundred propshaft bearings in my career and know how to press them on so no damage occurs during fitting.
I only bought these because they come with a new grease cover but was a mistake.
I have replaced these with fag bearings and all are perfect now.
Avoid these bearings
