Works OK but don't run it down
This Bosch battery is one of the type that cannot withstand the voltage falling below a certain level (about 10v) and if the voltage falls below that level the warranty is void. The battery arrived fully charged. It appears to be made of a hard plastic. It fitted well in an Audi A3 terminals were of the right size in the right place and it started the diesel engine without further charging. I would imagine that if a vehicle is used regularly and nothing is left on it will provide good service. The question that some users might have is whether the risk of sudden failure (with no warranty) outweighs any benefits this relatively expensive battery has over more traditional competition. Back in the 1980s gel batteries were available for motorcycles that had the same characteristic of not being rechargeable one the voltage dropped below a certain level. The fell out of favour. The problem is that for those motorists who expect a car to restart after being unused for a few months this kind of battery can be a liability.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent high-spec battery.
This battery currently sits at the top of the Bosch range and is especially suitable for vehicles with a large number of electrical accessories and is a lead/calcium product. I find that the starter remains capable of spinning my heavy, diesel engine over at full chat at sub-zero temperatures, despite a recent history of short journeys using the pre-heater, lights and heated seats, windows and mirrors. I am also seeing a peak charge voltage of 17v, which dramatically reduces recharge and recovery time, although I suspect that an alternator capable of recognising the capabilities of a calcium battery is required to obtain this benefit. With the price here being comparable to a cheap, lead battery on the high street, fitting one of these instead is a no-brain decision.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent battery
My Mustang got through 3 Halfords batteries in 7 years, before I went for an S5, and I'm still very impressed with it 4 years later. 77Ah starts that big V8 with ease, and I can leave the car all winter without a problem (previous batteries would always be flat after a few weeks). AMAZING HEAVY DUTY BATTERY - 6 STARS!
Oddly enough I bought a BRAND NEW car with a 3 year warranty and thought it'd never need a new battery for 10 years. The original battery of 480 Amps died only 1 month over the 3 year warranty. So I got this mammoth 780 Amp battery (62.5% MORE POWER yet same size dimensions!) and oh my word. You can just tell after driving my car daily for 3 years; the car starts up much more healthily. I was going to buy a Bosch Battery from Costco, I found this one on eBay which was the same price but an S5 for the price of an S4, It comes with a 5 year warranty and far more powerful than the original that was fitted to the car. Marvellous high-capacity battery & great value @ £83.89 Postage Paid.
This is the 2nd Bosch unit I've purchased both for Rover 75 cars A) The first - for a rare V8 Saloon Automatic with lots of electrical equipment & B) the second for a Diesel Tourer [ Estate ] also requiring a strong battery especially for starting.
