Remarkable little device to get Internet radio etc into your HiFi
Prior to buying this gadget, if I wanted to hear Internet radio on my domestic HiFi system, I had to connect my smartphone, or tablet, via the Aux connection.
With this clever and tiny device, just connect it instead to your HiFi's Aux input, plus to the mains supply via the supplied lead. Download the Chromecast App onto your smartphone. Power-up the Chromecast and then follow directions given on the App. Very straightforward.
Then you can use a Chromecast-enabled Internet radio provider like DI or TuneIn radio and just press the CAST button that appears, to divert the D/A conversion to the Chromecast and hence to your HiFi. Quality is good (but see note below) and I'd say at least as good as a CD provided the station is of decent data rate.
Two pieces of advice: 1) I had to reboot the Chromecast after first installing it before it would operate properly. You can reboot using the software, or just switch the main supply off and on. 2) If you're using a decent HiFi system, then make sure the Chromecast setting for High Dynamic Range is set to on. It isn't by default.
At the price I paid this is a real bargain!
