Great fan, definitely not quiet though
The fan is really effective, cools the room really quickly and having all of the different features is great. Fits nicely on my dressing table which is why I opted for this one rather than the round model as it would have been too big. It’s definitely not quiet though. I don’t mind the white noise sound but I wouldn’t say it’s any quieter than a regular fan. It also hums when it’s turned off but still plugged in. It’s not massively noticeable but if I’m near it and there’s no other noise I can hear it. Overall I’m really pleased with the fan because of the extra features, but I would not have been happy if I’d paid full price, and I’m not really sure if it justifies the price it’s at even as refurbished. The best fan on the market...
I really enjoy this fan, I really do. + It's awesome design and outstanding features are really great. +This particular fan that's not the round model actually fits really well into any room i've had it in, since its not that wide you can fit it in a corner or even a table underneath a window if you need cool air flowing into the room. + The awesome rotation makes cold air reach the whole room, not as efficient as dyson shows in their videos, but it makes the room at even temperature. And note! It rotates around it's own base, so less room is required. + Dysom support team. Really the best support team i've ever come across. They help you, no matter what! + Remote control, you never really apprised and fought about getting a remote to a fan... But when you have it, you really dont wanna be without it any more. Build quality seems like the best, its plastic and metal and blends well in together, stylish and have the perfect mate finish. The detailed reflective pars are really a nice touch. The negatives then... - The heat mode smells a bit "hot" like a newly changed tip on a soldering iron, but more. (might go away of you keep it heated for a looong time?, not 1 day tho) - I had some issues with mine that made it not rotate, but the Dyson support is outstanding, best in the business, for sure! - It is advertised as a really quiet fan, that you can barely hear when you watch tv. But i have something else to say, its quite quiet on low mode, (1-2) sounds as much as my stationary pc with 14 low rpm fans. On settings 10 and up there is really a lot of sound and it will be louder than the tv. Tho, with rotation mode you dont really need more settings than 1-3 to keep your room cold. - The temperature gauge on the "heat mode" seems a bit off... I really need to set it to 27 to heat my room from 21. - It's REALLY pricey... You cant really deny it. you can prob. get 10 fans for the same price, but its only 1/10 quality. Can you afford it without looking back? then its the best fan on the market... Can you not live with the price tag, then there is more cheap options out there. - You really buy it for its appearance. Expensive but does really work.
Being a poor sleeper when the weather is hot I spent too much time and too much money trying to find a fan that will cool but not keep awake all night with operating noise. I was aware of the Dyson and the technology employed but have always been put off by the price. There are many lookalikes out there but as I have discovered, they are not the same thing at all. The Dyson is not completely silent but it is low enough to allow me to sleep, even on the low setting it still cools during the night. There is the added bonus of the heating too. Not really tried that but again it seems exceptional, utilizing the built in thermostat. Great fan. Love being able to put on hot or cold to fit with weather. Cold could be colder thought would be more like air conditioning cold but not.. you have to be very close to get the full effect. the heat is great able to increase or decrease.. gets really hot and heats my attic perfectly.. love the timer feature useful when going to bed. Great looking and being able to have it moving or tilt is also very useful. Quieter than fans I’ve used previously. Great saving from rrp.
My item was indistinguishable from brand new other than being in a plain custom made box & arrived in one working day. References to the amount of noise made whilst in operation are generally well founded & I found that using the wider air distribution setting caused slightly more noise than the direct air jet setting, neither of which are too obtrusive at the lower/mid speed. All in all this is a quality item & you pay for Dyson technology, there are plenty of other cheaper fans out there, make your own decision whether you want to spend the extra to own an item that just blows hot n cold air around. Lovely looking fan - delighted
I love Dyson. ALL my vacuums are Dysons so I thought I would treat myself, (due to giving up smoking 5 years ago), to one of these super hot/cool fans. It is so light and easy to move, the remote is stored really conveniently and is clearly marked for the settings. Not only does it have the two temp settings, (set in one degree increments from the top of 33C down to 1C), but it also has two modes. It will do a direct airstream or a wide range one so you can go from individual person to whole room. I used the direct to warm up one evening and then changed it to wide when I was cosy, worked a treat. Not used it on cool yet so yet to try that in the summer. There are no blades so just a wipe round the rim to clean it. Like most fans it will turn side to side while running and is so quiet you hardly notice it is on. The temp and mode settings are displayed on the front with a light up panel. My only gripe is that my white fan has a dark grey cable which is really ugly when it could so easily have been white. There is a reason women choose things to go nicely in a room setting...!!! Being by Dyson the quality is undeniable, it oozes modern chic and I love it. I had to be convinced...I am!
I had considered purchasing this item for the past year, but was put off by some of the reviews and the price. When I was visiting my sister in the US over Thanksgiving (I live in the UK now), she has one that she bought direct from Dyson as a refurbished unit. It was amazing. Quiet, warms the room very quickly, excellent thermostat cutoff, everything you could possibly want. So when I returned to the UK - I looked online for a refurbished unit. I found this at a very good discount and it still has the Dyson Direct guarantee for one full year. Not a total solution
We purchased this to heat our conservatory over the winter months thinking it was a one unit solution. It helps but in conjunction with the oil filled radiator and halogen heater that we thought would be heading for the tip. Expensive, but worth it.
The Dyson Am09 was a Dyson refurbished unit and has a 1 year warranty. It came very well packed and in fact looks hew. I already have had one of these heater/cooling fan AM09s and although they are expensive I had no hesitation in getting another. Not only do they look good but the functionality is excellent. Very comprehensive set of controls available with the remote control. Most outstanding feature for me is tight control of the temperature in the room. The set temperature has very little hysteresis so that the room temperature stays more or less as set after it is reached. Sleek and efficient
