All springs have their rate laser etched on the end and are manufactured to DIN 2095 grade 1. WE CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH - FAILURE TO DISCLOSE RIDER SPEC, OR PREFERRED SPRING RATE, WILL SEVERELY DELAY THE DESPATCH OF THE SPRINGS.
Already sorted the rear suspension but the front...
...was so soft that fork dive under braking was horrendous!
There are various remedies (mainly US based) on the market for the soft spring in the forks of the Rally, but this single spring upgrade was both affordable and available in the UK.
I already have a YSS shock (from the same seller) fitted to the rear and that transformed the handling, especially off-road and it even helped to calm the very lively front as well. But I wanted more.
This single uprated spring (8.5Nm/mm was recommended for my weight) was a revelation. I measured various parameters of the forks before I fitted this spring and measured the same parameters afterwards.
Static sag (on a bike with less than 1,000 miles on it) went down from 40mm to 15mm.
Loaded sag went down from 62mm to 31mm.
Fork dive during a full-bore brake from 60-0mph went down from 192mm to 105mm.
The bike is massively more stable on the relatively short test runs I have done under lockdown and inspires way more confidence in the bike as a whole, the only downside is that even my 33" inside leg is barely long enough for the bike at rest; OK on tarmac but less so on gravel or off-road.
I have the option of lowering the top eye on the shock and/or raising the forks slightly in the triple clamps.
For a total outlay of £345 the combination of the YSS shock and the K-Tech fork spring has transformed my bike and I can heartily recommend both products with confidence.
I doubt I could get better at twice the price!
