Half the cost of G2, with 2/3 to 3/4 the value
The Reverb G1 matches G2 resolution, making it among the higher resolution VR headsets. Resolution suffices for comfortably reading most text on virtual desktops. G1 "sweet spot" (that portion of field of view optically resolving LCD pixels) is smaller than on G2. Early G1s were plagued by LCD nonuniformity AKA mura. As with all high-resolution VR headsets, a G1 can tax the most capable GPUs available in 2020.
As with all WMR controllers, these quickly consume batteries and are relatively unpopular with gamers.
However, inside-out tracking simplifies setup and usage for e.g. sim racing and with gamepads.
Reverb headsets are lighter and more comfortable than others; G1 audio is considered mediocre and distinctly inferior to that of G2. G1 tether is heavy and stiff, with a connector near the back of the head,
which allows for an optional backpack configuration, that is distracting when moving quickly.
As with many HP products, online support is poor, with the owners guide no longer available there
and much other information (e.g. about controllers) replaced by G2-specifics.
