Ideally this should work with Amazon Alexa, however this will not work in the UK, as it needs to be linked to the APP, all you can do is change the lights which has 6 dimmable options. Still a great lamp, the only one available in the UK, I ordered this from United States a while ago.

Echo Show 5. Good for the price.
The screen is smaller than I expected. About the same as the average mobile. The built in speaker is good quality, with an adequate amount of bass. I use it with headphones for listening to Amazon music. It also sounds good plugged into my HiFi. I have 3 smartplugs connected to Alexa. Now working ok. They were 3rd party cheap wireless one's. It was a bit of a faf getting them to connect. Ended up using my mobile with the Alexa app and a third party app connecting together. Once I did this, it's easy to add more. Echo show then recognises them. They can be given names so you can say "Alexa turn on lamp". Overall I'm pleased with it. If you want one for watching films or most video, I would go for a bigger screen version. I'm happy just seeing the album cover picture.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

We already had a Google Home Hub in the kitchen but we wanted something to replace an old clock radio in our bedroom. We opted to try the Amazon product. Wish we had purchased another Google. The unit is well built. Not quite as good things as the Google Home Hub. The Amazon has some things that that are nice. Useful, good value, reasonable sound. Privacy issues, no local playback, limited wake words, screen doesn't add much value.
I have my reservations about allowing devices like the Echo or Google hubs into the house. They basically can be used to monitor your behaviour. BUT, your mobile phone can do that too and that goes everywhere you go. To make your life more private you'd have to stop using mobile phones, stop using the internet and stop driving. If you ignore the privacy aspect and just talk about the device, its very handy for setting timers, getting weather and traffic reports, I have a door cam as well and I can view it via the echo show just by asking to see it. I can control power sockets and lights, I can play my spotify playlists all just by voice. It can tell jokes, answer basic questions, act as a photo frame, all Very cool. Sound quality from the Show 5 is good enough and I have a few of them scattered around and play them as groups so you get sound coming from all over the house which improves the quality of the sound. I also have a show 10 inch which has a better base speaker as well as a couple of echo dots setup as pairs so you get stereo play back with a good base. All very good. The screen doesn't add much to the experience but it has it's uses and the bigger case improves sound quality over the Echo dot. Issues, if your internet stops, it all stops. I wish the devices could operate locally. Why can't it play music from an SD card, just about any cheap device can do that? Voice recognition is good mostly but it's very dependant on a decent internet connection. I want to be able to set any wake word, the Amazon units are better than the Google ones (main reason I use them) but I still want to be able to call it Jarvis or Hal...Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Excellent, especially with the headphone input on the 1st gen. The 2nd emits it 😑 Only two drawback is that I’m a lounge situation, it is hard to see the screen info at usual sitting distance, so, more ideal for the bedroom. The other drawback is that it only produces mono sound. This I found to my dismay after I bought it. The Shoe 8 which I now have produces Stereo Sound so, I’m grateful to know this and have changed promptly. I have an echo show 7 in the kitchen, good for cooking, an echo spot in office, good for video calls, the 5 is small, great in a side table, but can show a lot due to being rectangular, sound is spot on, they all are. I wouldn’t have bought the spot if I’d known, the 5 is much better yet doesn’t take up much more space

Decent little gadget
Very good gadget for catching up with podcasts and news stations as well as the occasional Youtube and cooking recipe. So good I got one for the bedroom as it play lullabies for the little one with voice control.
