    Better than I hoped

First off, I did not have high hopes when I purchased this item. However, I am happy to say it works and it works well. For some reason, it shows the picture in B & W on the PAL setting, but it works in colour on NTSC, not sure why that is when connected to a TV designed for the UK, but hey, its not a big deal. I would describe the downscaling results achieved by this device as similar to watching a video cassette (back in the day) in terms of picture quality (by this I mean the quality you would have experienced on a high quality 'Movie studio' video cassette, perhaps one hired from a video store and not the quality you would have got from a home recording, or one bought in a supermarket), so by no means HD, but perfectly watchable. Sound is exactly the same as watching TV. I would recommend one and hope that you get the same results as I have. Just make sure you get the right one as the upscaling and downscaling model look nearly identical, so check the input and output on the pictures before you purchase. Good luck

A USB power plug is needed

I bought it to connect my old TV (only scart) with a new recorder (only HDMI). At the moment, all I can say is that it seems to have done what it's designed to do It also only comes with a USB power plug connector lead but no USB plug, so that's an additional expense and time wasted :( To be fair though, the plug wasn't in the item description

  • SCART to HDMI Converter

Everything supplied to connect my VHS recorder to my new TV which doesn't have a scart input, except the scart to scart lead from the recorder to the converter (but already had that). Quality of audio & video is level with a straight scart connection on my old TV.. Pleased with result so far.

  • Good solution for missing SCART socket.

It did exactly what I expected it to do when I bought it. I was a little surprised that it needed to have a power supply plugged in to make it work, I thought it would be a straight forward cable connection drawing any power needed from the TV or Virgin box if necessary.

  • Nice & compact, good value, does what it says, needs a 5V DC supply feed via the supplied USB cable.

Very much plug & play, works well in my set up of Panasonic NV-HS950 SCART feeding my Samsung LS27E510CS PC monitor. For 4:3 aspect ratio images from the VCR the display has to be set to PC-AV mode then AV to display 4:3 rather than 16:9 which is too stretched out. The white HDMI cable with the converter was great as its thin and white which is less obtrusive.

  • Very reliable product

I've already had one for a year and have purchased another for my daughter so she can use her old DVD p;ayer with her new TX that does not support scart connections.

  • Does the job well, keeps you old equipment usable for a while longer.

You can never tell how well a cheap item of electronic equipment will perform and if you prepare to be disappointed sometimes you will be pleasantly surprised. With the march of technology many of us still have legacy video players and DVD players which don't have an HDMI output so a device like this enables us to continue to use them while they still continue to work. This device sits between my Arcam DV89 DVD player from 2005 and Sony A95K TV from 2022 and does the job well. Obviously you can't expect a DVD image to match any sort of HD picture but as long as you are not too fussy this converter does as well as might be expected. I don't have a cable to try the Sony's legacy input but when I do it will be interesting to compare the two methods of conversion. Recommended to keep your old equipment going for a few more years.

  • It does the job

I use it to get my DSLR picture to PIP view on my Samsung TV while I’m doing my gaming vlog. The tv doesn’t support dual hdmi outputs with PIP and my camera doesn’t have flip screen. So, this does just perfect job. I can see all the info like voice and battery levels from camera. It’s also nice with my Retropie to get that authentic downgraded noisy picture to NES games. 10/10

  • Just the item I needed

This was needed to connect a scart plug to my new tv, as it came with a power connection was great because it is sometimes difficult to get the right size and polarity connection with a multi plug connector.

  • Well, that didn’t last long

Connected my V6 box to my SCART-only TV. The unit worked as well as could be expected for three days, then developed vertical bands of discoloration. There are no settings I can make to try to solve the issue. Choosing a different video signal setting on the V6 box didn’t change the problem at all. My DVD player and old set-top box work fine, proving there’s no problem with the TV, so after their short holiday they are back to stay!
