Pretty sweet.
I have this lock and the Nest x yale lock. I like the construction of the nest lock a little better, the ring on the August lock feels like it should be made of better material, but overall the rest of the lock is solid, it keeps your keyhole open for an actual key, and you can add on the keypad for outside the door if you don't want to add user to the app. Plus I like that it works with google.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Doesn't Lock Door When You Leave
When I watched the videos on the August website, it appeared that when the person left, the door locked, when the person returned, it unlocked the door. Well... half of that is right, it does unlock the door when you return. Problem with auto lock is that you can turn it on, but it is timer based meaning that you can set it to lock the door in 2 minutes, 3 minutes and so on. If you want the door to lock only when you leave, you are out of luck, it doesn't do it. I thought it would either use Bluetooth proximity or geo location to lock the door when you leave, as I said, it doesn't. If you want the door to lock on a timer (X amount of time after it unlocks) this unit is for you; if you want it to lock only when you leave do not buy it because it does not have this feature. For the amount of money they charge for this smart lock, that is only half smart (won't lock the door when you leave), well it is just to much money. If I would have known about the door not locking itself when you leave, I would not have purchased it because that was the primary feature I was looking for... but I did buy it and am stuck with it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good idea
Easy to install, there is a video on YouTube but you don’t really need it, the instructions are really good, and there’s no need to change your old lock (good for apartments or if you don’t want to give new keys to your friends and family. Working since minute 1 and don’t have any complains at all ( I waited for 1 month to write the review) There’s no deed to have key to enter, only your cellphone, and can let my family memberin anytime. I’m really happy to have this intel at my home. I definitely recommend this if you have a family member that forgets to close the door or any ocd and need to be sure if they close the door ( you can easily see in your phone the door status) Hope you have a good experience if you buy this item.

works so much better than Kevo

I ordered this to automate my house and am very pleased. It’s so easy to install, it took only 20 minutes. The features of the lock are awesome, it’s tethers to household members phones and will lock and unlock itself for each of these. Fifth August lock - they work great
This is my 5th August lock - I think they're the best choice right now for smart locks. I regularly find that first time guests trying to let themselves out don't know what to do with the big round puck. Auto lock rocks
I love that I can leave my apartment and not have to fiddle with any keys - just walk away and the door will lock itself. Auto unlock is a bit flaky in my experience but I attribute most of that to be that I live in a apartment building so the signal is likely fighting with many other signals from other wireless devices in other apartments.
