Disappointing
This is my fourth addition to the Draper 20v system, impact drill, drill/driver, hammer drill and jigsaw are great and live up to expectations. I had high hopes for the random orbital sander, but found it disappointing, the build is of good and sound quality, much better than required for DIY users, as with the other units and this is a good thing. With a battery installed the sander is difficult to hold and therefore not easy to use, the speed control, something that is not necessary in my experience, is positioned where your thumb rubs against it causing the speed to vary and finish on slow speed. The sanding pad at high speed spins fast enough to do a good job, but is let down by the orbital action, which is virtually non existent, because of this the machine is difficult to use as it wants to spin off the work all the time. This machine has its place for occasional use, but will not replace a corded random orbital sander, for me this is disappointing, as it was intended to do just that and I will pick this up with Draper. My recommendation would be to buy a corded random orbital sander in preference to this 20v Draper cordless unless your particular requirement leaves you without a power source. This machine will not, however, give you a comparable finish as a corded machine and some hand finishing will be required.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
