Good for simple home use
So , thinking of getting a shredder for your basic home needs. ? This does the job well. I’m no expert on shredders, and it’s not a serious office type player. But for most people’s home needs and safely disposing of personal information this is great. Well built powerful and has good capacity. Not as good as my original Fellowes shredder.
I will put my review in point form. Feels very cheap, not a patch on my previous model. The basket is solid plastic so you cant see how much is in it.. The shredded paper is still quite large to in information is still visible on some of the paper. The run time before switching off is very poor, even when you are putting the paper through a sheet at a time and not putting the shredder under any pressure it still switches off too quickly and takes a good while to be ready to start again. The only plus side is it is compact and shreds bank cards and paper with staples in. In my opinion this is quite a poor machine and wouldn't recommend it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Lightweight with essential features.
I have had a Fellowes shredder before and it lasted some years. It worked as expected. Therefore I expect this one to do the same. Model 36C is only intended for light duties. I only use it once or twice a month for a dozen or so sheets, so therefore I am a light user. For my purpose this is very good value for money. Basic, lightweight, shreds well

Advice for jamming!
Before I bought this shredder I read a number of reviews that claimed the shredder had jammed almost immediately after it had been removed from the box. This happened to me! I believe a number of issues are at play here: 1 The cutters need to be oiled regularly and if possible after each full bin; 2 Regularly remove the shredder head and clear away the build up of paper shreddings - when the shredder head is immersed in the paper shreddings it cannot function properly. Paper shreddings need (through gravity to fall away from the head). If they are unable to do so, the shredder jams. Applying the reverse function just makes the situation worse. It's tiresome having to stop every few moments to clear away the paper but it is well worth it. I have had two Fellows shredders and have been happy with both.
