If you don’t want a ‘tablet’ size phone, this is a great mid range from iPhone
Short of a 12 mini, (for which you need a mortgage!), this is one of the smallest ‘compacts’ in the iPhone range that’s reasonably up to date in tech terms and is very affordable. For me, the additional features of the SE2 (same size but with a later processor and a couple of camera features) wasn’t worth the additional cost. Best of the Touch ID phones
This is the last of the Touch ID phones, X onwards uses Face ID which many will say is better but I like to be able to unlock with a fingerprint. By the time they got to the 8 all of the kinks and wrinkles had been ironed out and the 8 represents the pinnacle of that generation of Apple products. This 256 Gb model has bags of space to hold my entire 80 Gb music collection and it is compatible with FLAC so no need to have different versions and quality levels. Having owned it for a month I have zero regrets and would buy the same phone today. One day I might upgrade to the X series but will wait till it is at least three or four generations into the design.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Move from 6S to 8 hardly noticeable
Fine, but only purchased as previous iPhone volume earpiece decreased - move from 6S to 8 hardly noticeable. I used to instantly buy all Apple ‘upgrades’ but to be honest wanting a headphone socket as much as anything skipped a couple of models, I had to give in as despite also using my lovely Oneplus 5, iMessage in particular means I also need an iPhone. Nothing wrong, nothing spectactular in the 8 that made me think that was the money.... Best iPhone for me so far
Having moved up from my slowing but faithful 5S… everything runs quicker, smoother from updates to apps. Transferring everything from the 5S to to the 8 was nothing short of miraculous!
