    Outstanding handset

There's a good reason why this handset it still selling three years after it was released; it's vastly superior to the two models that have superseded it. The definition of the screen is better than almost anything else on the market today (including *ALL* iOS handsets), and with normal use the battery life will easily see the day out (even with the brightness set at the top level). The speed of the processor, combined with a good amount of RAM means the handset is responsive, even when customised with widgets on screen, and the availability of apps for this version of Android (6.0.1) means that there's no shortage of useful software to load it up with. This is my second Blackberry handset (replaced a Q10) which I prefer because most of my communications are done via various messaging systems, so I like the physical keyboard, and the slide-out version on this model is brilliant; a solid feel that you can't press by accident, but with keys big enough to use without always hitting the wrong ones. 18MP camera allows some fantastic pictures to be taken, even in relatively poor lighting, and the internet speed seems is so much faster than the Q10 I had before, probably around twice as fast under real world usage. Can't fault this handset, and definitely good value for money.

A good phone but extremely poor battery

This phone was new and in excellent condition and the second of these I have owned. However after about 3 months it was clear the battery was not retaining charge very well even with limited use. It was also a complex procedure to update the operating system to latest version for this phone. Bought as previous Blackberry Priv phone had been excellent with physical and on screen keyboards, but the battery issue for this purchase really let it down.

  • Great phone with an eye popping screen!

I purchased used but the item was in fantastic condition! The screen is beautiful and I’ve been using the phone for 1 day and 8 hours - with 49% battery life left! I’ve installed an app from the play store called Doze, which stops apps running in the background and devouring your precious battery life. I personally don’t find the phone hot or slow to use and I’ve probably owned every flagship on the market. The keyboard allows fast, accurate typing, with no embarrassing text sent ( like on a touchscreen). Outdoor photography is crisp and clear but the shutter speed could be a little faster ( maybe the Nougat update will fix this) The phone got an instant security update when I signed in and I would be happy to use my bank on this device - I certainly wouldn’t on any other android device. I don’t use social networks on the phone as these are massive data and battery hogs, I leave that for my iPad. All in all you can’t go wrong with this device and guess what, it’s not an Apple or a Sammy - dare to be different!

  • Dare to be Different

Thumbs Up I read a lot of reviews about the phone before I brought it. I brought it for the keyboard really but have been super impressed with the compactness of the phone; the camera is super impressive and shooting in 4k makes a difference to the quality of your images. It’s not a DSLR so there’s no room for comparison. People’s reaction when I tell them it’s a Blackberry is mixed. Some people love the Blackberry from back in days and others think that Blackberry is dead. The Blackberry Hub is cool; it basically has all your messages in one place. The screen and quality is fab. I don’t have to squint at those smaller screens. I heard comments that it’s slow but so far I haven’t noticed really. Thumbs down Hmm, let me think. When I get lost on the phone, none of my kids who are the IPhone generation have a clue what to do on it and I am left to suss it out on my own. I haven’t figured out how to add a decent ringtone on it. Maybe I should review the phone in 3 months time when I know the functions properly. All in all it’s a good phone. Glad I brought it- although I definitely would not pay the retail price for it. Refurbish price suits me better.

  • I have had Blackberry phones for at least 10 years now and I love them, but this is the best Blackberry I have ever owned

This is a hybrid between a Blackberry, with it's qwerty keyboard neatly hidden away in a pull out section that emerges from the bottom and back of the phone, and an android so you can download lots of apps and use the latest technology. I hear they are no longer producing these, so I can only hope they are being replaced by an even better update because the others I have seen do not look as good. I dread the day I have to give up my qwerty keyboard as the touchphones don't work well for me. Thankfully, I love this phone and will use it as long as possible.

  • good but not clearly structerd operating system. Have experinced better mechanical keyboards from Blackberry. Quite heavy.

Blackberry Priv purchased Dear Sirs, Re: Blackberry Priv purchased, I have used a lot Z10, Z30, Torch, Bold and 8520, 8310, and 9320 and this is different. Unfortunately not everything is good on the Priv. The device is complex and one needs time to find out about even the most important features. We shall see how it goes, Best, Andy H

  • Excellent Android phone

I like iPhones, but £600+ is just a bit too steep, somehow doesn't feel right to pay that much for a phone. Other Androids are either similar prices (Sony, Samsung etc) but they're all very much the same and don't really DO anything much more than the much less expensive Androids. Plus they all look the same. The Priv is definitely different. With the latest updates - it runs at a reasonable speed, doesn't get hot and lasts all day. It's well built, the camera is more than good enough and for emails etc the physical keyboard is much better than fat fingers on a touch screen. The slidey bit also means you can hold the thing properly without covering the screen. Best software: definitely the Blackberry Hub: My assorted email addresses, LinkedIn, facebook, texts, calls, WhatsApp, Slack & Twitter - all in one place? ...genius... why other manufacturers don't do this is mystery. It might not be the very very latest piece of kit any more - but for half the price of a flagship device, the minimal difference in performance really isn't noticeable. The Priv - it's the best phone I've ever had. Better than the Passport, iPhones, Sony's & Nokias that I've had in the past. The only thing that might tempt me away is the latest Blackberry KeyOne (but that's not even in the shops yet)

  • Blackberry Priv

Great phone, with new updates my battery lasts a day. Signal strength is good. Phone is great to use and has blackberry security

  • Too outdated to cope with current apps

This handset is not a new model but not from too long ago - assumed would cope with current apps. However, it cannot handle the current Apps - is extremely slow. Google maps is so slow to react it cannot be used for directions whilst driving. It is extremely slow to open apps including emails etc. I purchased this as a replacement phone, purely because it has a keyboard which (working in the construction trade outdoors but also running business) is almost essential for me. Wouldn't recommend - already too outdated to cope.
