Magnus made whoopsie mistakes and Perturabo is the definition of “Dangit Magnus!”
I had previously read the book on my kindle but nothing beats having a physical copy. The book is a bit battered but nothing that detracts from the story itself. The plot is great with the mystery as to why the planet Morningstar was the only one to survive in a disaster hundreds of years ago and why it is going to explode now. It shows the sweetest brotherly bond between two primarchs that isn’t marred by sibling rivalry and is based on genuine care for each other. Magnus does drive Perturabo up the wall though with his quest into uncovering the mystery of the planet Vs getting people off the exploding planet as quickly as possible. It does show a growing friendship between the Thousand Sons and the Iron Warrior legions too which is nice to see, even when visions of the future Heresy makes the psyker astartes question what the future holds. It does end with a twist that I didn’t see coming and shows the flaws in Magnus’s thinking which makes both him and Perturabo see him in a new light that will, unfortunately, lead to his own downfall in the future. However, I couldn’t help help but want to hug him in the end because Magnus ultimately wanted to do the right thing, even if his own pride clouds his judgement.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
