About this product

Product Information

Dan Toombs (aka The Curry Guy) has perfected the art of replicating British Indian Restaurant (BIR) cooking after travelling around the UK, sampling dishes, learning the curry house kitchen secrets and refining those recipes at home. In other words, Dan makes homemade curries that taste just like a takeaway from your favourite local but in less time and for less money. Dan has learnt through the comments left on his blog and social media feeds that people are terribly let down when they make a chicken korma or a prawn bhuna from other cookbooks and it taste nothing like the dish they experience when they visit a curry house...but they thank him for getting it right. The Curry Guy shows all BIR food lovers around the world how to make their favourite dishes at home. Each of the classic curry sauces are given, including tikka masala, korma, dopiazza, pasanda, madras, dhansak, rogan josh, vindaloo, karai, jalfrezi, bhuna and keema. Popular vegetable and sides dishes are there as accompaniments, aloo gobi, saag aloo and tarka dhal, plus samosas, pakoras, bhaji, and pickles, chutneys and raitas. Of course, no curry is complete without rice or naan. Dan shows you how to cook perfect pilau rice or soft pillowy naan every time.

    Proper English Currys

Made my first curry from the book Lamb Madras it was superb! following the authors recipe to the letter made the curry for 4-6 people me and the wife ate the lot over two generous sittings and it after leaving in the fridge for 2 days the second serving was even better than the first if that were possible! i cannot recommend this book enough if you like takeaway curries this is the nearest you will get ,i would have posted pictures but we ate it all lol

  • Most critical review

If I'm honest, the book was delivered, which was great, however it was badly stained on front cover, and what seemed like rice stuck to the binding.

I would expect a perfect looking book, however this wasn't the case. There were what looked like grease marks on the front cover, and a substance stuck to the pages. I work hard and always give 100% to earn a living, I would not purchase this item again. There's plenty of sml businesses need our support.....

  • I love a good curry and have tried over ...

I love a good curry and have tried over the years to create that Indian restaurant taste. This book makes it possible. Simple steps and clear instructions. Start at the beginning though as you need to get the prep done first. Love this book.

  • WOW! Great recipes Thanks!

I shared my Curry Guy Best Restaurants cookbook with a friend who is Indian, and got excellent feedback on the recipes in the book. So, this is a great resource for those like me who are just beginning to cook their own curries, and is fun for those who have been cooking Indian Curreys all their lives, as who dosn't like a wonderful twist on a personal favorite?

  • Great recipe

Followed the recipe for Lamb Vindaloo, it came out great. My son loved it and my friend loved it. They said it' was restaurant grade. Although it was a lot of work, but the end result was well worth it.
