    Definately a good lens.

This is a very good option to avoid paying for the Nikon version for those of us that are not in the photography business but still like to take good/sharp pictures. The Tap-In feature is just amazing because it allows to set up the lens for inconsistencies on the auto focus system. After tuning the lens (if necessary) the images are sharp and color rendition is very good.

    Tough to get used to.!

Perhaps I will become accustomed to this wonderful lens, but since I'm old and used to zooming a certain way, I find myself grabbing the manual focus ring and slowing down the process. I cannot understand why Tamron would put the zoom ring way out in front of the lens. This is not like any other Tamron or Nikon lense I own. I'm a little sorry I purchased this lens right now.

  • Good investment

I’ve been wanting to upgrade lenses for some time already but didn’t know if it’s worth the extra money. Definitely glad I spent some extra and got this 70-200 mm lens. Make sure you get the G2 and not G. (Tip: G2 has a gray/silver ring at the base...) Very sharp image. It is a heavy lens but it comes with a tripod mount. Cheap Kit lenses don’t compare.

  • [Tamron F2.8 70-200mm] Great lens!!

Great lens. I hesitated about non-Nikon lens first but I am very happy with this purchase. It's bright, sharp and focus quickly. The only downside is the weight but Nikon lens isn't much lighter.

  • Great Lens.

Was looking for a 70-200 for a while. Researched the NIkon and the Tamron. For the money there was very little difference. Focusing ring is reversed but not a problem. Takes great pictures.

  • Superb Optics but HEAVY

This is a marvelous lens, thought by some to be the sharpest glass available for Nikon cameras. I bought it fo the specific purpose of shooting concerts in low light situations. However, I find myself reaching for it whenever the light is even slightly dim outside, for birds in the yard. The only drawback is that it is one of the heaviest lenses that I own, other than my big primes. However, similar lenses from other manufacturers weigh about the .same, for much more money. This is a great lens and a great value.

  • Incredible value for an elite lens

This is a very sharp and fast lens. It's a pleasure to work with such a nice crisp piece of glass. The quality for this lens is a great deal over the Nikon equivalent, which is twice the price. Two things 1. It's very very heavy. Could even hurt your back in you're lugging it around all day. 2. Although it's a perfect zoom lens, at 70mm you're still going to need another lens (preferably mounted to another camera because swapping this beast is quite a proposal) if you're too close to your subject or shooting indoors in a confined space. This lens is replacing my 28-300 f3.5-5.6, but I do miss the range on the old lens.

  • Tack sharp lens with great vibration control.

Excellent sharpness in center and edges throughout focal range and aperture.

  • Sharper than 1st version!

The first Tamron version was a very good lens and a good price. It was a great alternative to the first Nikon VR 70-200. This new G2 version from Tamron is even better than either of those lenses. The only minor problem is that the switches can be moved too easily as when removing it from the camera bag. I highly recommend this lens!

  • Best 70-200 ever

Not happy with my Nikon 70-200 VR1 and not too keen on the VR2 I read some reviews on the stunning Tamron SP 70-200 VC G2. Every review was way favorable for the new Tamron Lens. I already owned their SP 159-600 G2, SP 24-70 G2 and SP 90mm macro Gs. All incredible lenses. So much so that I upgraded my entire kit to Tamron’s SP G2’s.
