A work of art, a feast for the eyes, and experience for the ears.
Not in a long time has such a series for so many weeks riveted my interest. I was truly astounded that something so intelligent had come around in this day and age. It's a work of art in every sense of the word! It is almost frightening how uncannily the same Michelle Williams is to Gwen Verdon - uncanny - the voice!!! I am 64, I lived thru most of the times in the film and saw most of the shows - the accuracy and 'feel' of the recreations made my heart soar. The story never sags, it is so cleverly edited together. When it was on TV - you had to watch the repeats 2 or 3 times that night to 'catch' the nuances, clever details and editing, prolific camera angles, intensely clever dialog. This may be an overused phrase - but it IS a work of genius down to the last minute person who worked on this masterpiece.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Worthwhile, if not too entertaining
Informative but not terribly entertaining, this series manages to convey all the chaos that seemed to pervade Bob Fosse's life. It is constantly juxtaposing scenes from different moments in his life into the general narrative, which tends to become rather tedious after a while. Although the box says there are closed captions, it comes without them, which is a pity since Fosse always talks with a cigarette in his mouth which made much of his dialogue difficult to follow. I don't know if Gwen Verdon spoke with that awful squeaky voice that Michelle Williams uses, but being one of the best actresses around I presume she was quite faithful to the original. Likewise the fixed smile that seems to accompany every event that she experiences. I am a great fan of Bob Fosse and have seen most of the films he was involved with, but this series is not the kind of sparkling entertainment which he so often provided.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
