A look into a possible future .. though funny, it is alarming
This film was recommended to me. It was preposterous until I realized that it demonstrated the outcome of a world that is complacent and indifferent. Intelligence is still revered by all. With all the easy to get comforts available from corporate world our people slide into idiocracy. Kind of a stupid movie but entertaining and scary at the same time.
I purchased this movie on the recommendation of my daughter who wanted me to see it and compare with some of the similarities it has compared to American society and the path it is on. It is scary how we actually are dumbing down our society and this movie takes that fact and stretches it way out to be a comical, but stupid at the same time, warning of the future path unless something changes in our society. :)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It's a little corny but the message is still strong
There's so many good actors in this movie that got their start not necessarily in this movie butt it was the beginning of their career the movie was corny and kind of dumb but that was the whole point of the movie if you really look at the message of the movie and the way Society is and the way it's heading the movie speaks volumes from the aspect of everybody having sex and no care whatsoever to tattoo scans on your arm for identification it makes you think for the price I don't think it's a bad dealVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

I can't defend this as a great movie--it isn't. But there are a few concepts that stand out as most amusing (the new trend in survival of the "fittest", and all the throwaways--the Costco, the labels, the vending machines/ATMs--and Fox News! It's much better than you think
This is a surprising movie, I was not expecting to like it very much. It's interesting and engaging. I don't know if another movie like this. It has electrolytes...
I would dare to say it is a modern classic. It is by all standards a goofy class B movie, by the author of King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead and other well known shows. It is a parody imagining how the world and society will look in the future. To me was prophetic and somewhat we see traits of this parody daily 15 years after the release. I loved it. Saw it many times and wanted to add to my collection. This movie is hysterical and frightening in its predictions of mankind going backwards in evolution due to the smartest people not having children .
The 2 copies of the film "Idiocracy "are of mid ramge quality discs which play well with good resolution,however,the storage cases are so flimsy they are only 1 step up from a paper sleeve,the case has massive holes of missing plastic that equal the size of a dvd to save plastic & make cases cheaper,the holes are covered by the movies picture & details,these are not the high quality DVD's for somebody whos serious about their dvd collection,i wouldnt put CD's with such poor quality cases into my CD collection,the seller was a pleasure to deal with & i will buy from again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Idiocracy
This is a low-budget movie but seems to describe modern America to a "T". I have purchased several copies for gifts. Ths movie basically describes the dumbing down and mimics what we see today from our elected officials to everyday people. The utter collapse of common sense and good judgment has fallen by the wayside in this movie. I see the current president and cabinet well represented in this movie.
