PERFECT LITTLE FRYER!
This is a GREAT little fryer - it really is! So small and compact just perfect for one person. I've only used it for chips and it blows away oven chips for taste and crispness - you cannot beat a freshly fried chip! It will fry one decent-sized sliced potato, not a large baking-size one, the chips probably won't all fit in the basket, but believe me it doesn't look like a lot of chips but perfect for one portion - not too many not too few. It warms up to 180 in 5 mins (max190) and fries my chips in about 10-12 mins just as the info on the dial says, so in approx 15 mins your chips are on your plate. Some people have complained the lid gets hot and is dangerous to open, I don't understand this, yes it obviously gets hot but there's a lip around the viewing window you curl a finger under and up it comes - yes you have to take care but then any deep fat fryer needs treating with respect. After use I just wipe away the oil residue (not much) around the fryer rim under the lid and the underside of the lid/viewing window - takes seconds with a damp sponge and fryer looks like new. This is not just another kitchen gadget never to be used, for me it's a really handy addition to my kitchen appliances, good quality and perfect at what it does. Apologies for waffling on, but when I come across a product that is actually practical and fit for purpose I'm happy to spend time recommending it. Not big enough for one portion and that needs a whole litre of oil.
I have kept it because it would cost a disproportionate amount to return it. But to require a whole litre of oil to cook a very small portion of chips and to take up to twenty minutes to heat up first, is ridiculous and certainly not environmentally friendly and not mentioned on the website.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great little deep fryer
This is a lovely little fryer for someone who lives alone & only wants to prepare small amounts of food. It has a thermostat which can adjust the temperature between 80-190°C, and a handy guide printed on the front showing best temperature & cooking time for various foods. There's also a guide in the instruction book. It heats up in about 15 minutes, and this can be confirmed when the 'heating' light goes out. The basket & handle were easy to assemble, and it was ready to use in minutes. There's a hook on the basket so it can sit high up in the container, away from the oil. The only slight niggle is that the manufacturer, Lloytron, doesn't supply replacement filters- but that's not a problem as there are numerous sellers on eBay selling cut-to-size filters for fryers (grease & charcoal filter). I didn't have any problems opening the lid while using the fryer, as the plastic stayed cool. I have found the fryer easy to clean. The basket and lid can be placed in your dishwasher (after removing the grease filter), and the container has a non-stick coating. I just filled it with hot, soapy water & cleaned it inside & out easily with a washing-up sponge. One point to note- it's important to only fill it up to the 'max' mark- I over-filled it a little first time round, and some oil spilled out. I keep mine on a tray now, to contain any spills.

Handy wee fryer
Great wee fryer. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that there is no handle on the lid. When the fryer is hot, it is essential that you use a tea towel or other cloth to lift the lid as the lid is extremely hot. The basket holds enough frozen chips for two people.
