Lewis (Whately) returns to Oxford five years after Morse's death to take up a Detective Inspector position after recently becoming a widower. This time he is in charge and has his own sidekick in the form of D.S. Hathaway (Laurence Fox) to assist him in solving murder cases around the University town. Series 1 episodes are: 'Pilot', 'Whom the Gods Would Destroy', 'Old School Ties' and 'Expiation'. Series 2 episodes are: 'And the Moonbeams Kiss the Sea', 'Music to Die For', 'Life Born of Fire' and 'The Great and the Good'. Series 3 episodes are: 'Allegory of Love', 'The Quality of Mercy', 'The Point of Vanishing' and 'Counter Culture Blues'.
