Notes2017 release. Midland intentionally nods to the wild west with country music reminiscent of the 1970s and '80s, channeling idols Dwight Yoakam and Willie Nelson, both legends whom they previously opened for on the road. Their 2016 self-titled debut EP was featured in Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and Billboard and their music video earned them their first CMT Music Awards nomination for Group Video of the Year. On The Rocks is Midland's anticipated first full-length release on Big Machine Records.

Excellent overall with moments of STUNNING glory.
One of the best albums to come out in YEARS. 'Make A Little' and 'Drinkin' Problem' are great, but so are 'Lonely For You Only' and 'Electric Rodeo'. 'Electric Rodeo' especially is just STUNNING. Turn it up loud (of course) to get the full on feeling of this song; the longing deep inside; the being torn between staying on the road and staying home; the full, swelling of the orchestra just adds so much to it. This album is a great blend of old and new country - the band puts a nice spin on classic country music - familiar stories but with updated rhythms and guitar leads and vocals.
