Stunning, unless you already have a 3900X.
Super CPU in ALL facets. The only "but"? If you already have a 3900X there's really no point in buying this one. I DO have both, right next to each other, and notice VERY little difference in 2 or 3 high core loving programs and none at all in the rest or in gaming performance. But I also have an Intel i9-9900K, and this just beats it outright in virtually everything. The Intel 12 series CPUs might be approaching competitiveness (I haven't tried one yet), but AMD is still 1-2 years ahead in R and D into the next models.
This doesn't seem to have as much overclocking headroom as the 3900X no matter how I adjust the voltage, but in graphics editing (Vegas Pro) and sound (Sound Forge), I do see a noticeable difference in favor of the 5900X. The PCIe lanes probably account for that. I can't rationalize (no matter how hard I try) needing a 5950X for anything with this beast available.Even a 5800X is overkill for a huge majority of people, certainly if all they do is game. If that's your thing then a 2700X or 3600 is plenty for any title out there even now.
