Superb piece of equipment!5*
I bought the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4usb under recommendation of a friend and had read reviews so was buying it in faith that it would serve the needs I had for my home studio and I have to say that when it arrived, well I was very impressed. The metal finish speaks quality over other interfaces of this group as many of them are plastic. The usability aspect is fab. From unboxing it to having it working as the main sound source on my laptop was immediate. Connecting it to my DAW was easy and the individual controls on the front make using the 2 ins on the front for my guitar and mic really easy too. I bought this to be the final piece for my home studio and I am so glad that I bought this specific interface. Hats off to Focusrite as they have nailed it with this interface. Even been able to change the led colours on the front of the interface was a great little extra. They have not compromised on sound quality either. Fabulous piece of kit :) .. but ..
It is an excellent piece of kit as always by Focusrite .. top build and function, I do use this in my Win10 Studio DAW setup .. BUT I also use studio DAW recording software on my WinXP platform (dual boot PC) as I have a lot of investment in past studion DAW purchases for that platform (of which many dont work on Win10, but I still like to use from time to time .. and it is annoying that there is absolutely no, not even basic, Scarlett 4i4 audio driver for the WinXP platform .. Of course I expect all the 'bells and whistles' software investment to happen only for Win10 and upwards .. but not even a basic audio driver for WinXP? surely it can be done at teh most basic level no?Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

More noise from this item compared to my...
More noise from this item compared to my previous D/A (Steinberg) which means I have to upgrade my cables, but latency is excellent. The 4th Gen Scarlett reintroduced physical buttons to select the preamp levels, which I now see is preferable to the 3rd Gen, where the levels are only selectable via the software.
