AKG N40, MidFi Price, Top tier sound
I was able to snag these for $275 used. Well worth the price. Deep lows that don't over power or intrude themselves, clear and detailed mids, highs that extend well but are never too bright. The sound has great resolution but is never too analytical, it's very well refined and polished. The soundstage width, height and depth are the real show here. Never have I heard such an immersive stage aside from maybe the MusicMaker SW3 but even that doesn't compare to these.
