What can beat Hammerite?
Does what it is supposed to do. Seems to stick to and cover 'old' metal better than brand new until it is dry. Fantastic over welds & stops rust in its tracks. I have used the same product on trailers, cars & Land Rovers for a number of years now & have never had rust return provided two or preferably three coats are applied. In cold weather I advise storing cans indoors until required OR standing them in a bucket of very hot water for an hour or so before using. The cans will not 'pop' as the soon cool the water. In very hot weather try to shield the surface to be sprayed from direct sunlight as hot metal can cause the solvent to boil off leaving a flaky surface.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Horribly messy stuff!
Horribly messy to use, the underseal ran down the outside of the can and smothered my clothes and hands, fortunately I was wearing gloves but my boilersuit was ruined. Happily I had placed a large piece of carpet on the driveway which saved me the cost of a divorce but the carpet was ruined and I have used that same piece of carpet for messy jobs for fifteen years! Brilliant .....but
It is a great product which does what it claims. BUT, there is a massive problem with the spray nozzle which when it snaps off (very easy to do) you cannot put a new one on! Much, much easier than a brush.
These cost a fair bit more than the brush on variety but they are so much easier to use and create fewer drops on the ground. Easier to get good coverage in tight corners too, since the brush type can be hard to build up a thick layer (e.g on welded seams).Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

East to use.
Much, much easier to use than the Waxoyl can and a paintbrush. Shake the can well and keep the can warm. Keep the can upright when spraying - gives a nice even coat. Gave the recommended two coats. Hammerite - underbody seal with waxoyl
Time and money are not something i have in abundance. I didn't want to mess about with pumps/dispensers for this job. It was a quick fix to tide me over and ensure I got some protection applied to the chassis of my Defender. It sprayed on well and I'm really pleased with the results. Later this year I'll do a full scrub down and rinse through the frame but will use these again with the tins (to brush on in places). Good size tins with great coverage too.
