The originals!
I remember these books as a kid. My parents always hated them because of the pictures being to horrible. Now the new versions have toned down pictures and are not as good. Not Authentic Harper Collins Copies
Be warned book collectors, these are not original, authentic copies of these books. They are print-on-demand copies that are smaller than the originals with thin pages and iffy print quality here and there. I don't know if they are bootleg copies or not (I suspect that they are), but if you are a collector looking for the original printings from Harper Collins that we all loved in the 80s, keep looking. If you just want a set to remember the stories and brilliant original illustrations to share with your kids, these would be fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I was very pleased with my purchase. It was exactly what I expected and it came in a timely manner, plus it had the original artwork. I remember being freaked out by Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark when I was little, so when my 8 year old son came home from school talking about these scary books with spooky pictures I knew exactly what he was talking about. I just had to order them for him right away. The artwork is just as scary as I remember it. There are very few types of books I like to collect, this series is one of them. Since my elementary school days I have been trying to collect them. Now I have them and they will make excellent reading time for me and my kids as they get older. I got these books just in time for Halloween. I personally believe that the original illustrations is what made these books the best scary story books for young kids. It just adds to the thrill of reading these books by flash light. Great condition, but very slighly flawed
