HOUSE OF MARLEY (BOB MARLEY) STIR IT UP RECORD PLAYER (NON-BLUETOOTH) – VINYL TURNTABLE, STEREO PRE-AMP, 33 + 45 RPM, ANTI-SKATING, RCA AUDIO OUT TO 3.5MM CABLE, USB OUT, BAMBOO/BLACK, BOXED (U). Used (U) - An item that has been previously used.
Nice contemporary turntable with moving magnet cartridge
I have seen some reviews of this turntable that have found the tonearm difficult to balance for setting up the correct weight on the stylus. I also found on first use that it this was an issue, however after a few hours of use the gimbal seems to 'loosen up' and then the tone arm can be properly balanced. I find the anti-skate is quite strong and needs to be set lower than the counterbalance weight setting to avoid the anti skate applying too much force. The budget Audio-Technica moving magnet cartridge performs well on this turntable. The output via the in-built pre-amp (I do not have a separate phono-stage in my hi-fi) is of a good volume and provides good decent response when compared to other line in devices. The deck is attractive in design with a contemporary look and has a good weight to it with sprung feet. The USB to PC is simple and works as an input device on the PC without needing any drivers. Though this is a manual deck the turntable does stop when the tone arm is but at rest and when the record has completed playing. I haven't tested the speed accuracy though it sounds correct on the music I have played.
On the downsides; the motor is a little noisy and there is a noticeable hum on quiet passages when using the USB into a PC for recordings and this doesn't have a dust cover.
Overall for the price I paid it is good value but I wouldn't consider it to be worth the full RRP.
Had done a lot of research to find the mix of aesthetics and sounds quality-this does not disappoint, especially for the price.
Looks great, plenty of adjustments to get the setup right and plugs straight into our BOSE speaker!
Very happy!
