Serious Protein Choc Flavour Review
The protein is a proprietary blend so you don't get much information. What you do get is that it contains whey protein concentrate (which typically has about 80% protein and gets into your system within 1.5 hours. Whey isolate is faster at about just over an hour). Casein (which takes about 4 hours to digest). Soy Protein Isolate (which takes about 3 hours to digest). Then there is the Glutamine which is very low cost which can be used to spike protein powders to give high protein readings. When in actual fact they are not. Many protein companies do this to a certain extent. Here we know they have added a protein filler, but no idea just how much. Basically the only way to know this is to send it to a lab for testing. Many labs have found that although the manufacturer has stated it is 80% protein it can to as low as 40%. So, you cannot believe what the label says. However, there are few red flags you can check. 1) How well does it mix? The better it mixes the less filler it will have. 2) Most fillers like Glutamine will drop to the bottom when you add it to water. Thus, adding the protein powder in a clear glass and watching how much of the powder falls to the bottom will be an indication of how good the protein powder really is. OK, I have checked how it mixes and it mixes about average, so that is a good sign. On the drop and float test, it also did good. Most of the powder floated. I must say I didn't expect that. So no obvious red flags. I would estimate the level of protein per 100g would be between 60 to 79%. So not bad. As far as taste goes, casein and soy do not taste very nice and I suspect they account for over 60% of the protein powder. Thus, the reason it does not taste too good. I would add some coffee to the choc flavour. Also, the texture is a little like flour (due to the soya). If you soon get tummy problems the amount of glutamine and soy may give you some stomach problems. This is just the nature of these ingredients. I would say this product it good value for the money, but it is not always kind to your stomach and tastes pretty bad. Also note this will not work like a whey protein. it will take 2 to 4 hours or over to digest. So good to take in the morning or night or midday, pre workout. But not recommended for post workout (you need 100% whey). Hope this has helped you.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent product
This is great protein powder. I must have bought 20 tubs of this since it was released and have never had any problems with it mixing in just a simple hand held shaker. The chocolate flavour tastes great (cannot comment on the others as I have not tried them). It is also very good value for money, so much so it is now the only protein powder I buy. Serious protein .
This is by far the most horrible protein mix I have ever tasted, it also leaves a horrible aftertaste and is hard to mix. Unlike other protein mixes this leaves small balls of powder that havnt mixed properly no matter how hard you shake or mix it.
