  • Really Great!

I bought the Apple iPhone Xs 256gb to update from an iPhone 7. I love the increased screen size with overall phone size being virtually the same. Face recognition is so much better than fingerprint, which often failed eg. when damp after washing hands. Lift to wake and, slide up intuitively replaces old button. The new twin-camera lens and ‘portrait’ depth of field adjustment is brilliant and also 2x zoom feature. The phone case is stainless steel instead of aluminium and the phone has a great look and feel of quality. Battery performane seems good, better than old iPhone 7 128gb. I now have 256gb - so no worries for space - all my photos at resolution, videos, music, documents etc. leave loads of capacity. I would buy this phone again!

  • Significant upgrade from the 6S if you can make use of the new features

I've owned and used an iPhone 6S (standard size) since it came out almost 4yrs ago. I was still "on the fence" about upgrading for an XS, but when the right deal came along on eBay, I took the plunge and have been delighted. In general, apps load noticably quicker on the XS than they did on my 6S, and the XS gives a lot more screen relative to the overall size of the handset which is not much bigger than my 6S. The 6S had a fantastic camera on it, and despite the XS's twin lens system, there's little improvement for most general snapshots or landscape photos if taken "as is". Where the XS makes a difference is the post-shot editing features, such as the adjustable depth of field and the colour filters. For me, the killer feature is support for dual SIM - No more having to carry a personal phone and a business phone! The XS makes handling both in one device really easy. You can easily select which SIM outgoing calls go through, and even switch one of the SIM cards off altogether as and when you choose. Dual SIM is also incredbily useful to "virtually" improve your coverage, if each of the SIMs are on a different network. I have one SIM on EE, and the other on Vodafone. Therefore, as long as I have a 4G signal on at least one of the SIMs, I can carry on working as normal - I'm often in situations where I have no EE signal at all (usually in buildings) but do have a Vodafone 4G signal. When this happens, data connections automatically start using Vodafone, and even my EE calls/texts still work as these start working via the Vodafone 4G (using the same technology as WiFi calling). Would I have paid Apple's full £1150 for this phone? No. As good as the phone is, and as much as I love the freedom and functionality of dual SIM, £1150 is still just too much, especially when the 6S is already doing such a good job. However, £715 via eBay was reasonably good value in my opinion.

  • Great improvement on my iPhone 6s

I upgraded from an iPhone 6s and I have found the Xs a great improvement. Many days I have ended up the day with 70-80% charge when previously on the 6s I was down to 40%. The face detection is another boon - much more reliable than fingerprint, especially if your hands are wet, and it also makes Apple Pay much quicker and more reliable to use. I had thought that the lack of a home button would take getting used to but I was quite at 'home' without it after an hour or so. (I have to admit I'm 72 years old). All in all I'm very pleased. Wireless charging is convenient too. Oh, and the photo quality from the camera is noticeably improved from the 6s, and this is mainly why I upgraded.

  • Great phone

This is bigger than standard phones (e.g. iPhone 6 which I had before) but not too big so that the buttons can be reached with one hand. The clarity of photos is excellent and I should have lots of space compared to the 64GB model. It is expensive for a phone but Apple products usually are. It is worth getting the Applecare warranty for 2 years. The phone works really well and the battery life is fine as I charge it overnight.

  • Better suited

I decided to replace my iPhone 13 because I wanted more hard drive and I believed that 5G technology wasn’t much different from 4G (certainly not noticeable by myself). This phone does exactly what the other phone did; so really a good contender. Also I wanted a phone that could easily be operated using one hand whilst in a case.
