Awesome feature-packed video camera
Awesome value-for-money camera. I had used the G7 previously and that left something to be desired. I'm using this with an old Fujinon ENG lens, so adapting to this 2/3 lens to a m4/3 body is easy with a dummy adapter and doubler on the lens. This also meant that features like IBIS, HDMI out while recording, and no video record limit nor file chaptering were very attractive to me, and I didn't need super advanced PDAF like other cameras. Battery life and general usability are excellent for video. Overall, this was a great fit for me and have no complaints thus far.

Autofocus is awful

Middleweight Champ
The Panasonic G85 is still an exceptional camera in 2018. I got it as a B-camera to my GH5, and it really holds its own. So much so that I would recommend it as a main camera for anyone that doesn't want to spring for the GH5. The body is small enough to be inconspicuous and easy to pack, but it's substantial enough to feel balanced with the 35-100 zoom. Great Handling Camera
While I got a defective unit (had it repaired), it's the best micro four thirds camera that I have used. Handling is comparable to DSLRs, but without the bulk. The menu system and noise performance are similar to my older Panasonics, but the in-body stabilizer makes all the difference. Great Field Camera For Long Hikes or When Weight Is An Issue

No downside to downsize
I'm getting to like the G85 more and more every day. The downsize from a DSLR to Micro Four Thirds is really welcome and makes me feel I can go further and to more places with it. And, the quality of the images leaves me with no regret in moving away from my DSLR. I'm glad I purchased the body separately from the lens. I decided to get a 12-35mm Lumix lens for it, and it really seems to shine on this camera. At the same time I am also able to use Olympus lenses with this camera, and it handles the 40-150mm I purchased with great ease. Yea, this is a really nice camera and a lot of fun to use.
