It was certainly worth the effort for me
Overhauling the Vanos on my E46 325i was challenging, for example when removing the rocker cover, the gasket was so old and brittle that some of it broke into pieces and dopped onto and around the exhaust cam which was a bit of a headache and you need to take care at every stage of the procedure. The video insruction is very good and there is additional information in the written instructions both are on the X8R website. Most of the research i did before undertaking this job suggested that left hand threaded bolts that secure the Vanos to the camshafts should not be reused and perhaps 2 of these bolts would be a useful addition to the kits. The results, I have to say, were instantly noticeable. So much more eagerness at lower revs. It's like driving a different car. Highly recommendedVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fantastic bit of kit
Brought this kit as I had a bit of a vanos growl. I was also getting an intermittent cutting out as I was moving off issue. This kit is in my opinion an essential purchase for any aging 6cylinder E46 owner. The car is transformed it's much smoother and has way better power delivery. Will be buying one for my 323 very soon

All E46's need this kit if its still using the origianl seals.
This kit is all you need to rebuild the VANOS unit, there is a more expensive kit with anti rattle pieces but once its all built back together there wont be much play in the pistons.
