Marples (Irwin) chisel set - worthwhile purchase
I grew up respecting good quality tools & when I needed a basic working set of chisels, I naturally looked for Marples. My research led me to understand that the better chisels for me to buy would be those that are ‘vintage’ steel - however, unless you want to spend an inordinate amount of money to get a ‘vintage’ set - you would be hard pressed to find a set of better value for the quality. Sure they’re sharp out of the box - but they need ‘backing off’ & a composite angle adding to them - but I’ll be honest - for the money - SPOT ON. Only criticism is that the extra 2 chisels are added into the box which means they don’t fit comfortably … but hey, that’s my OCD kicking in ! Case not big enough!
Decent Irwin Marple chisels, as you would expect. A great deal for the money. Just a bit weird that you would have this really good chisel set, in this really nice storage case, but it simply isn't big enough to store all of the chisels in! Yes they fit in the case, but only as a bit of an afterthought.

A good tool set but needs to be prepared for use.....
I think the IRWIN Marples set is is good value but don't be fooled, especially if you want a stupidly sharp blade.... Be prepared to sharpen each chisel with sharpening stones or plates; which will take time but I believe it will be worth it in the end and the set should last you a long time.... A great set of chisels for the best price I could find. Feel good and sturdy, and the striking cap should last a long time. Appear to be very good quality steel, I've sharpened and polished them up a bit, as they weren't quite good enough out of the box. Marples the best chisels to buy
