A comparable model in the striking violin shape of the Epiphone Viola, which - historically speaking - saw the light of day even earlier than the Höfner bass. While the Höfner has an arched solid top, the Viola top is flat and laminated (veneer glued on). They are similar in terms of playability and sound, with the viola bass sounding a bit more present. one word summary FANTASTIC
brilliant bass, well built a quality piece, rarely goes out of tune, when left in its case, variations of the tones and sounds absolutely tremendous you get so much from this budget bass it's fantastic, I've owned mine for approx 2 years, and very rarely use other far more expensive basses in my collection. the Hofner equivalent comes no where near it for quality and value for money
