Beautiful Natural Sound
The soundblaster X-Fi music pci cards are without a doubt the best soundcards creative have ever made, even now in 2016 nothing touches the sheer clarity, crisp and full bodied sound this card produces. 2004/5 was the golden era for creative audio. I have tried this card with my high end creative iTrigue speakers, the sound is so pristine and clear it just draws you in, however where this card really shines is when its connected to my pioneer amplifier with my wharfedale diamond 9.1 stereo speakers, the sound is so rich, punchy and full bodied im not ashamed to say listening to kraftwerks "planet of visions" live i had a tear in my eye, thats how good it sounds. The overall sound quality this card produces on my wharfedales is up there with the best, there is no humming/hissing/distortion or motherboard interferance anywhere, you will get the best out of this card with hd audio like 48 or 96khz wav or flac although mp3 sounds ok, compressed audio is inferior to uncompressed audio especially on the rear channels. The software suite is a pleasure to use and i have an xp pro raid 0 install on a separate hard disk just for music listening, however the card is supported by windows7 fully, it works on windows 10 also but the sound apps don't, im not too fussed about this as xp is my choice for music anyway, im not too keen on windows 10 its too bloated for my liking. The rear ports are 9k gold plated for a top notch connection and the card is also ASIO 2.0 compliant, so for music making this is the card to go for. Needed to boost headphone volume on old Dell Vostro 200!

Simply the best
If you want rid of the crackle, pop, hiss and other joyous (not!) sounds of onboard sound buy one of these. I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 515 headphones and it is sheer bliss to listen to music with this setup. If you want Hi-Fi through your computer this is about as near as you're going to get. Setup was a doddle with all the sound software installing without a hitch, which is a novelty with Creative Sound Blaster. I haven't had time to record anything yet (too busy listening to sublime FLAC tracks) but if it is a straightforward as it has been so far I will be well pleased. Until now I haven't found anything bad to say. I would warn anyone who had anything other than a full size case though.
