    Perfect Replacement

    I managed to snap the shaft of an elderly and much loved spade. Rather than throw the wreckage away I searched for a replacement shaft and found this product on line. It arrived in good time and, wonder of wonders, the taper end did NOT need dressing to fit the old socket - it was a perfect fit, so I am very pleased. This is a strong, well constructed handle and will definitely see me out.

    Let down by quality control .

    The shaft of this handle is not round but oval , so it doesan't fit into the spade blade properly , also the handle was loose . I could have sent it back but I couldn't wait . After a lot plaining and araldite ,I made it fit. I supose for £8 pounds odd including postage, one can't expect a lot .

    Replacement

    Can not comment on strength yet as haven’t used it. Arrived as stated looks as it should and only requires a small amount of shaping to fit my spade. Great height for me and one of a very few shorter lengths available on the internet. Delighted that I now have my stainless steel spade again

    Just the job if you need four candles.

    Used as replacement handle for border fork, 29" between top bar on tines and top of hand grip (so the spec. of 24" is a bit misleading). Cut off 2" and pared down the shaft to fit the fork socket. I used a palm sander to do this (80 grit), much slower than a spoke-shave but far less likely to over-do things. Keep test inserting and twisting, remove and sand off the score-marks using a rotating motion until handle fits deep into socket. Pre-drill for a couple of brass screws and job's a good 'un. Back in action on the allotment in no time.

    Nice quality handle

    My favourite spade broke. Rather than throw it away went for a replacement handle. Found this one which seems sturdy and well made and very good value. It was a little long for my needs but it was easily cut down to fit requirements.

    Good quality

    Having already broke two other handles I thought I'd try this one. It's a bit longer than I wanted and I had to shave the taper to fit it which I hadn't had to do before. The quality of the woods seen good, time will tell if it lasts

    With a bit of skill and and time it works well.

    I have fitted the handle. If needed to be cut to length then the point created to fit into an old Spear and Jackson spade. It’s nice to repair an item rather than buying new all the time.
