Unsuitable aerial
You cannot expect Hi-Fi from a box with small speakers such as this, but connecting it to an external amplifier produces good results. But a single extendable "straight up in the air" radio aerial is always dodgy at the best. It can produce noise and hissing according to the presence of nearby people or metallic objects, and attaching external devices (e.g. my amplifier) can also produce the same effect. A decent radio receiver requires either a dipole, or a decent earth, but here there is no provision for an external aerial. By fitting a socket for an external aerial myself, it made a marvellous difference, and I could pick up umpteen stations that were not audible before, and it then worked fine with my amplifier.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Little Sony is a blast
Well I bought one of these for my small kitchen a few years ago, and thought that it was really good. So my neighbour wandered in and thought it was good so I I bought one for him, and now my son has admired it and I bought one for him as well. All in all three votes of confidence. I didn't get the chance to use properly this item as it was faulty when it arrived. The radio worked but the CD didn't. Judging the sound quality by the radio alone was difficult. Very useful all in one to listen to talking books
I mainly use it to listen to talking books on tape, cd and MP3 cd as I prefer them to downloading mp3. Cannot comment yet on durability as not had them long.
